Adult Treatment Services

At Neuropsychology and Rehabilitation Associates, we strive to utilize the most empirically and scientifically validated treatments available. We believe in working with different treatment providers to establish an appropriate and coordinated ongoing treatment plan. We are committed to maintaining the highest standards of treatment and ethical practice in the field.

We specialize in the adult treatment of acquired brain and psychological injuries from accidents/critical incidents, and accept PIP and Workers Compensation insurance. We also accept Medicare. Our office manager will work with the client and/or family to maximize out-of-network reimbursement.

We provide court-ordered psychological treatment services for individuals involved with the family courts, The Division of Children and Family and other referring agencies, including large corporations.

We also provide psychological treatment for private clients with a full range of psychological disorders including the disorders listed under Adult Evaluation Services.

    Individual Psychotherapy
Our psychotherapy services draw from a variety of psychotherapeutic models including:

    • Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR)
    • Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Trauma-focused CBT
    • Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) informed treatment
    • Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT)
    • Psychodynamic Theory and approaches
    • Sleep hygiene
    • Psychological aspects of pain management
    • Relaxation training/Mindfulness

    Cognitive Rehabilitation
Cognitive rehabilitation training involves direct brain training to neurocognitive weaknesses and the teaching of compensatory strategies for daily life for patients with acquired neurocognitive dysfunction, such as traumatic brain injury. We incorporate cognitive rehabilitation with neurofeedback where appropriate. We also refer for concomitant vision therapy, vestibular therapy, speech therapy, and brain enhancing medications as necessary.

    Biofeedback
Our biofeedback services are used to assist patients in controlling their own physiological reactivity in their bodies. We utilize surface measures of EMG (muscle) activity, cardiovascular (measuring fingertip temperature and heart rate variability (HRV) utilizing PPG technology) and electrodermal sensors to train patients to better manage their anxiety, panic disorders, hypertension, sleep disorders, headaches, chronic pain, and so forth.

    Neurofeedback
Neurofeedback training uses EEG technology to teach patients to train their brain to achieve better attentional focus, greater control of emotional reactivity and impulsivity, and so forth. Research demonstrates empirical success of neurofeedback with ADHD and acquired attention disorders (e.g., from mild traumatic brain injuries/post-concussion syndrome). Neurofeedback may be used in conjunction with cognitive retraining exercises and other biofeedback modalities.

    Family Therapy (as needed)

Referrals to outside providers for psychiatric and brain-enhancing medication, vision therapy, vestibular therapy, and so forth

At NRA, we strive to track patient treatment progress using empirically validated measures of depression, anxiety, attention, and other cognitive functions on a continuous, as needed basis. This helps determine when maximum therapeutic improvement has been obtained and when it may be appropriate to shift to maintenance therapy.
